Another big year of political turnover, after 20 incumbents lost in the GOP primary.  The far right picked up 5 house and 2 senate seats.  Gone are Senate President Pro Tem Chuck Winder, Boise.  Sen. Geoff Schroeder, Mountain Home.  Sen. Linda Wright Hartgen, Twin Falls.  Rep. Matt Bundy, Mountain Home.  Rep. Megan Blanksma, Hammett.  Rep. Chenele Dixon, Kimberly and Rep. Greg Lanting, Twin Falls.  For cassia county sheriff, Jarrod Thompson beat out Travis Worthington.  In Twin Falls Jack Johnson won the republican sheriff primary election.  Several Bonds and levies were defeated including those in Castleford, Rock Creek Rural fire protection, Buhl and the library in Minidoka County.

Another right-leaning county in eastern Oregon has voted to secede from the Democrat-run state and join neighboring Idaho, according to reports. Crook County residents passed the measure by a 53% majority making it the 13th county in the state to sign onto the movement known as “Greater Idaho,”

Tuesday’s Republican primary election caused a shakeup in Idaho’s school choice debate.   It’s unclear which faction pro-school choice or anti-voucher won the election and secured more stable footing roughly seven months away from the next legislative session, when a new school choice bill is almost certain to resurface.

As 262,000 Idahoans prepare for a trip over Memorial Day weekend, gas prices will be very close to where they were a year ago.  According to AAA, today’s average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State is $3.80, which is four cents less than a week ago and 13 cents less than a month ago, and just four cents more than a year ago.  Meanwhile, the national average currently sits at $3.61 per gallon, which is the same as a week ago, seven cents less than a month ago, and seven cents more than a year ago.

The defense for Chad Daybell is close to resting its case in Idaho. This comes after two more witnesses were called to testify on day 28 of the trial. One expert said there was no data with Daybell's device located on the property following the days of the last sightings of the children.  Another said Daybell[s DNA was not found on any test samples linked to JJ.
