Idaho in the crosshairs of the U.S. Supreme Court.  Today, for the first time since overruling Roe v. Wade, the court will consider the scope of a Idaho’s abortion ban and whether a federal law governing emergency care protects access to abortion at hospitals when a woman's health is at risk.  Idaho's Defense of Life Act, which took effect in August 2022, prohibits nearly all abortions, with exceptions for reported cases of rape or incest or to prevent the death of the pregnant woman.



Jerome county resident April Jarvis is facing 13 counts of grand theft, 4 counts of forgery and one count of false entries in books of record.  She was arrested with charges of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from where she worked at A and G irrigation.  Court affidavit’s show that over three years the woman allegedly took over 353 thousand dollars. 



The Ada county coroner’s office has identified the shooting suspect following an incident last weekend in which Ada Deputy sheriff Tobin Bolter died from a gunshot wound. The suspect, 65 year old Dennis Mulqueen later died in a gunfight with police. 



School districts are asking for more  financial support.  Some school districts in the area will be asking for patrons to decide on funding when they go to the polls May 21st.  Camas County is asking for a 9 million dollar bond for a vocational center.  Castleford a 8.25 million dollar bond for three new classrooms and completion of the gym. As far as levy’s Buhl 1.3 million.  Cassia County 5.59 million.  In Richfield 360-thousand. Shoshone 600-thousand, Wendell 1.2 million and Blaine County  3.7 million. 



Kroger hopes an updated and expanded plan to divest stores to a wholesale grocery company will allow it to acquire Boise-based Albertsons. The new proposal increases the number of stores sold off from 413 to 579.  Kroger continues to note that no stores “will close as a result of the merger,” but there is presently there’s no guarantee stores will not close after the acquisition.



Matt Freeman, the director of the Idaho State Board of Education said he is stepping down at the conclusion of the state fiscal year, June 30th.  He gave no reason.  He has been on the board for 14 years, the last 9 as executive director.
