Westbound traffic along Interstate 84 near the Kimberly exit and Ridgeway road was closed for a time yesterday morning due to a vehicle fire.  When crews arrived the box truck and a couple of tires in the middle of the freeway were in flames.  No one was injured but traffic was backed up for miles.



Last night police were called to a two vehicle accident that seriously injured a 67 year old Wendell man.  Police say it happened just after 7 at 1782 East 2900 south in Gooding County when the man on an all-terrain vehicle crossed the center line and collided head on with a pickup.



Gas prices in the gem state continue to go up.  This morning AAA reports that the average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State jumped another nine cents this week to $3.86.  That’s 51 cents more than a month ago, and 39 cents more than a year ago.  The national average currently sits at $3.63 per gallon.



The Supreme Court is allowing Idaho to enforce its ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth while lawsuits over the law proceed, reversing lower courts.  The justices’ order yesterday allows the state to put in a place a 2023 law that subjects physicians to up to 10 years in prison if they provide gender-affirming care to people under age 18.



Idaho Gov. Brad Little has appointed Wendell resident Justin Vipperman to serve on the Idaho State Historical Society Board of Trustees.  He will represent Magic Valley.



Dirt was turned yesterday signaling the start of the new Transportation Technology center at the college of Southern Idaho.  The new facility expected to be compete in the spring of 2026, will offer classes and dual credit courses for those wanting to learn heavy ag equipment technology and repair. 



Lincoln County has received a 450-thousand dollar grant that will be used to create a daycare center.  The money is from the Idaho Workforce Development council.  The Lincoln County Youth Center in Richfield will be able to offer all day daycare for children up to the age of three.  They already offer a preschool and after school program.
