Idaho’s top two statewide elected officials said that the state is well-positioned to ride out economic uncertainty created by the collision of inflation and high interest rates with rapid growth officials are still taking stock of. Gov. Brad Little and Lt. Gov. Scott Bedke were among the speakers during the 77th annual Associated Taxpayers of Idaho conference yesterday in Boise. Little and Bedke highlighted the Idaho Legislature’s efforts to cut property taxes, reduce income taxes, bolster the state’s rainy day savings accounts and spend down a record state surplus through investments in public education, state parks, roads and infrastructure projects.


With almost 30,000 California expatriates leading the charge, the number of Republican voters moving from other states to Idaho dwarfs the number of Democrats moving here from other states. A new data visualization report released by the Idaho Secretary of State’s Office maps the party affiliation of 118,702 current Idaho voters who moved here from other states.

Police are looking for a Jerome man that went missing Monday. Billy Joe Mathis was last seen in northern Nevada. Nevada authorities are conducting the search.


The Jerome school district is considering a four day school week. Right now there are 97 Idaho districts that have a 4 day week. The topic was presented at this week’s school board meeting. No decision was made.


Chad Daybell's triple murder trial will be broadcast live by the court after a judge amended a camera-ban yesterday. Judge Stephen Boyce made the ruling after arguments from the state, Daybell's attorney and an attorney representing local media outlets. Daybell is accused of killing his first wife, Tammy Daybell. He's also accused of killing Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow, the children of his current wife, Lori Vallow.


Three people were injured, two taken by air ambulance following a crash on U.S. 30 just after 1 yesterday afternoon. Police say a 40 year old Kimberly woman collided with another vehicle at the intersection of 3400 east and highway 30. The crash closed the intersection for about 2 and a half hours.
